House of Pride | Board Game Design
Welcome to the House of Pride! 🌈
This is the board game design I created and illustrated for my Children’s Illustration class based on LGBTQ+ history. In the game, players need to collect the classic six colours of the Rainbow Flag. A pile of rainbow cards with all colours is assorted randomly and they will need to face different obstacles in order to get the group of six. The one who collects them all first, wins!
But fear not! Each player is assigned a special gawdparent with unique superpowers that will be used to guide/help their gawdchildren once they need it. I’m so excited to walk you through the rest of the assets I created for this game.

T H E G A W D P A R E N T S
Each Gawdchild has a Gawdparent that matches their colour (red, teal, yellow and magenta). The four legendary Gawdparents in this first edition of the game are based on iconic LGBTQ+ pioneers and leaders that include (from left to right):
Jackie Shane
A queer soul and R&B singer, who was most prominent in the local music scene of Toronto, Canada.
RuPaul
A drag queen, TV persona, musician, and model. Best known for producing, hosting, and judging the reality competition series RuPaul's Drag Race.
Marsha P. Johnson
A queer liberation activist, drag queen and outspoken advocate for gay rights. Marsha was one of the prominent figures in the Stonewall riots of 1969.
Willi Ninja
An iconic dancer, choreographer and founder of the House of Ninja. Willi is best known as the godfather of voguing and for his appearance in the documentary film Paris Is Burning.

Each of the Gawdparents has a special power that can be used once whenever their protégées feel like they need it. With this, people from all ages can start a conversation to try to understand more about queer history and what these historical figures made for the LGBTQ+ movement.
